Data Import

Arbit Data Diode Logo

Running air-gapped networks provides high security for your information or industrial systems. However, it also presents several challenges to daily operations. Information from other networks are required on a regular basis – texts, pictures, updates, instructions etc. Moving this data into the secure network is often a manual process which is time consuming, slow and prone to human errors. It might also present an unintended two-way communication channel from the secure network to the insecure network.

The Arbit Data Diode solves these issues by creating a physically secure one-way communication channel from the insecure network to the secure network. This channel cannot be reversed in any way since its basic principle builds on the laws of physics.

The Arbit Data Diode supports a full range of business use-cases including the following:

Use Cases

Simple file transfer

The most used function among our customers is file transfer between separated networks. Therefore, this function is offered by most vendors, but we take it a little further.

Software repositories

Running Linux in an isolated network increases the security of the system, but makes it difficult to update the system and install new software required by the organization.

Mail transfer

Working in classified areas and maybe on a separated network has many security advantages but in most cases, it means adding work to the end user. We do not fight the security issue at all, but we might help you saving time.

Time synchronization

One TIME-source is essential for efficient management more separated networks.

Anti-virus updates

One of the time-consuming daily routines for your admin is for sure updating anti-virus software. If you have different engines installed it makes the work even more difficult.

Mirror File Structure

Running Linux in an isolated network increases the security of the system, but makes it difficult to update the system and install new software required by the organization.

Securing / centralizing backup data

Log data/files together with backup is your way “back to normal” if the unlucky situation should happen.

Print

More separated networks in your organization normally means several printer pools.

Securing / centralizing log data

Log files are an essential part of your network security profile. Therefore, measures must be taken to do whatever possible to protect them.

Streaming (video, audio)

A lot of energy is wasted on setting up and maintaining separated surveillance networks.

User initiated file transfers

If you have your daily work in a highly classified or separated network, you know the trouble about getting pictures, diagrams, graphs or other info from the internet, moved to your high side.

Windows server update services (WSUS)

Having separated networks always provides the challenge of keeping systems updated.

Data Export

Arbit TRUST Gateway Logo

If you have highly secure or isolated networks in your organization, you know the challenge of releasing data from the secure network. The answer to this problem is the Arbit TRUST Gateway. Moving data into a secure network is easily handled by the Arbit Data Diode. However, when data is required to leave a secret network, numerous manual checks and procedures must be performed and obeyed. Often this export is done using USB-sticks or similar devices with all the inherent security risks.

The Arbit TRUST Gateway addresses all the communication security risks involved in releasing data and makes this critical communication as safe as possible.

The Arbit TRUST Gateway supports a full range of business use-cases including the following:

Use Cases

Appointment of releasers

Normally only a limited number of employees in the organization will be appointed and authorized to release data.

Releasing officer / clearing officer

This function can be placed on the high side or in the VOID network – or even both.

Automatic release

In some specific use cases automated release is required – mostly for structured data like tracking data or other automatically generated data.

Virus Scan

Before releasing data, it is essential to ensure that the released data has no malware.

File Type Filter (FFT)

FFT is just an example of a filter. This filter will analyze the content of the file and by the determine the type.

Add other filters

The open API allows the organization to add filters – Arbit -, 3rd part – or own developed filters.

Authentication of release identity

Only authenticated information can pass through the Arbit Trust Gateway. This is done using digital signatures.

Customizing your data release

Deliberately we focused on building a gateway platform allowing you to tailor and customize the release procedure and by this a vital part of the organization security profile.

Log’s

Log’s can be generated on high side as a partial log or in the VOID network as a full log.

API

In designing the Arbit Trust Gateway (ATG) it was essential to us to build a platform according to “security by design” principles – and we succeeded.
